Cleaning The Flat Panels - Part 4
With the hard part of destructing the chest now in the recent past
it was time to clean things up, starting with throwing all
the wood and paper pieces into the garbage! What was left were four very
dirty partial panels. However, with a little dishwashing detergent, warm
water, and some light scrubbing, I was very surprised how nicely things
cleaned up! What you see below are detailed pictures of each of the
cleaned panels.
Click on the individual panels, and then individual sheet sections for full details. Note as you click/zoom the picture sizes do get quite a bit larger, and if viewing over dialup modem may take some time to load. However, I really wanted high resolution images so you can see majority of defects per each can sheet (as well as how nice some of them are). I am very surprised how well the metallic gold held up, with zero pitting and only small moisture on only some of the sheets. Note that the white and red colors are very vivid, and the gold metallic nice and shiny. My camera really did a poor job of showing how nice these sheets cleaned up. |
