Using This Reference

TableContents
   Overview
While the ability to print content of this reference was taken into consideration during HTML generation, the intended usage is electronically, viewed within a web browser, allowing full navigation between various pages and images. Beer can data is organized a number of ways: alphabetically, by brewery, grouped by brewery, individually, and within various pictorials, with numerous hypertext links to navigate between them. Click here for hints on printing.

   Navigation
While a number of explicit links can be utilized, clicking on any graphical image will also navigate somewhere. Depending on context, Smaller graphics will either jump to another reference page (usually named under the image) or into more details about a given beer can. Larger images will either jump back or into full/larger view of a given can. Most other visible links will either scroll to next or previous related pages, or return to the main table of contents page.

   Pictorials / Text Listings
There are a number of pictorials formatted somewhat like the USBC or BCU references. For each can in a pictorial there is a small image, index within that given pictorial, contents size, number of faces on the can, brewery name, city where brewed, a USBC, BCU, Bible, or BCOM reference (if available) and a date approximation. Text listings will show one item per line, hyperlinked back to images/details where applicable.

Author
   Terminology
The first few chapters of the USBC book go into very good detail on topics such as canning companies, codes, can types, and various special info about a given can (e.g. Withdrawn, IRTP, OI) and this detail is not repeated here. What is borrowed from the USBC is notation of "size-faces-other". For example, 12-1-T indicates a 12 ounce can, one face, and contains the IRTP statement. More explicit can description is given on the full details page for a given can.

WhatNext
   MBC Reference Numbers
Since electronic format instead of printed page numbers, this project uses a dynamic numbering scheme which also allows for future discovery of new cans/variations. Numbering format is "MBC {brewery#}-{brand#}.{variation#}", for example MBC 24-04.2. Breweries and brand names are numbered in ascending order but NOT sequentially leaving gaps for new content. If there is only one known variation of a given can, the ".{variation#}" is not necessary.
