Config Tab
There is a quantity of data to be entered for any given beer can, and depending on the type of project (e.g. just 12oz flat tops) there should be no need to sift through combo box selections for choices which will never be used. The "Config Tab" may be used to choose the different "Can Companies", "Can Types", and/or "Can Sizes" that will be used in the given Cans project, and depending on the selections, the combo boxes on the "Item" tab will change accordingly (once you "Save" changes).
All known can companies, can types and sizes are selected by default. If you do nothing, all of these options will appear in the "Item" tab combo boxes. For choices you don't want to see, simply uncheck the boxes and click on "Save". The "Restore" button will reset check boxes to previously saved values, and the "Defaults" button will reset CanDB program defaults.
The set of "Can Types" and "Can Sizes" is hardcoded within CanDB, and choices may only be selected or unselected. The "Can Companies" entries may be selected, added, renamed or deleted as described below.
With CanDB version 2.0, there is now project type specific configuration per a given breweriana type. For example, the user editable configuration for Coasters or Trays will be different than Cans. For the project type “Other”, you have full control over three different selectable lists, as well as three different text boxes. Instead of the generic “other” you also have control over the name of the given entry box/combo, and your specified names will also be used in the generated HTML.
Editable Lists
If you right-click on a given can company entry you can Add, Rename, or even Delete that entry. If you right-click anywhere in the can companies list you can Add new entries. While the list of companies was taken directly from USBC v2, they may not be the exact form you would like displayed in your project, maybe not needed for your project, or you have new entries which need to exist. Note that at any time you can always use the "Defaults" button to restore CanDB default content, so no worries about possibly permanently deleting any choices.
Similar editing exists for lists of other breweriana project types. Simply right click on a given list and the same Add, Rename and Delete options are available, with the configuration saved in different project files. You can always restore back to the CanDB defaults.
